Shoppers crowd Silk-goods Lane and one of Edo’s most dry goods stores, Daimaru. This was the branch of a Kyoto concern, the name of who's founder, Shimomura Hikouemon, appears on the curtains. This is part of Hiroshige II's series showing famous sites of Edo, just as his master had a decade before. Note the effective use of perspective in the design
Early impression; some toning and fading.
